Jammu, Oct 14: In a strong warning to Pakistan, Western Army Commander Lt. General Manoj K. Katiyar declared that any future attack from across the border would be met with a response stronger than Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-offensive following the Pahalgam terror attack in April.
Speaking on the sidelines of a mega ex-servicemen rally held to mark 60 years since the 1965 India-Pakistan War, Lt. Gen. Katiyar stated, “If Pakistan tries to attack again, they will get a bigger reply than Operation Sindoor. And if needed, Operation Sindoor 2.0 will be even deadlier.”
He noted that while Pakistan has increasingly turned to drone warfare, including attempted attacks on sensitive installations like the Jammu and Pathankot airports, India’s anti-aircraft defenses and surveillance systems have successfully neutralised all such threats. “Not a single drone attack succeeded,” he added.

Reflecting on India's evolving defense capabilities, he said, “Since the 1965 war, technology has changed. But what remains unchanged is the courage of the Indian Army.”
Lt. Gen. Katiyar issued a direct message to Pakistan, warning that as long as its mindset remains unchanged, terror attacks and provocations will persist. “Pakistan’s thinking must change,” he said. “If they continue with their nefarious designs, they must be ready to face the consequences.”
He confirmed that Operation Sindoor had dealt a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting launchpads, airbases, and support installations. While details of the operation remain classified, its strategic impact was clear, he said, and any repeat of cross-border terrorism would trigger an even more decisive military response.
The General praised the coordination and support received during Operation Sindoor, crediting ex-servicemen, the local administration, and the public for their crucial role in its success.
The Indian Army is responsible for guarding the 740-km-long Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, while the Border Security Force (BSF) handles the 240-km International Border in the union territory.
With tensions remaining high, Lt. Gen. Katiyar’s remarks serve as both a warning and reassurance: the Indian military is prepared, resolute, and ready to respond to any provocation — with overwhelming force if necessary.
