Widespread rain lashes Dakshina Kannada; yellow alert issued for three days


Mangaluru, Oct 15: The southwest monsoon showed signs of revival as widespread rainfall lashed several parts of Dakshina Kannada district on October 14 evening.

Heavy showers were reported across Mangaluru, Bantwal, Beltangady, Subrahmanya, and Sullia, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds in some areas. The day began with misty and cloudy conditions, followed by bright sunshine until evening, when the weather suddenly turned overcast leading to heavy downpour.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued for the coastal region from October 15 to 18, forecasting the possibility of more widespread rainfall during this period.

In Bantwal and Beltangady taluks, intense rain with thunder was reported on Tuesday evening. Power outages occurred in several areas due to lightning, and minor damage to electrical appliances was reported, though no major losses have been recorded.
