Man held with MDMA at Panemangaluru cemetery road

Bantwal, Oct 16: The Bantwal town police have arrested a man for possessing MDMA (a synthetic drug) after he was found behaving suspiciously near the Panemangaluru cemetery road on October 15.

Acting on credible information, the sub-inspector of Bantwal town police station and his team reached the spot and found an autorickshaw (KA-19-D-1806) parked near the cemetery. Upon inspection, they questioned the man seated in the driver’s seat, who was identified as Mohammad Imtiyaz (40) from Bantwal taluk.

Police said that Imtiyaz was already an accused in a case (Crime No. 50/2025) registered earlier at Bantwal town police station. During questioning, he reportedly admitted that he was in possession of MDMA and had come to the spot to consume it. The police seized 0.760 grams (760 milligrams) of MDMA, valued at around Rs 1,000.

A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station under Section 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985. The accused was produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody.
