St Aloysius Pre-University College organises Linocut and Cyanotype art workshop

Mangaluru, Oct 24: The art club of St Aloysius Pre-University College, Mangaluru, organised a hands-on workshop on Linocut and Cyanotype printmaking at Alangana. The workshop commenced with a formal inauguration and a soulful prayer led by Zoya, creating an inspiring start to the day.

The resource person, Kapila Nahender, a renowned visual artist and printmaker from Bengaluru, engaged the students in creative exploration through two printmaking techniques. Participants learned Cyanotype Printmaking, a photographic process that produces blue-toned images using light-sensitive chemicals and sunlight, and Linocut Printmaking, a relief technique involving carving designs on linoleum sheets to create artistic prints.

A total of 41 students participated enthusiastically in the full-day workshop. Students also showcased their previous artworks, adding to the creative atmosphere of the event. The workshop concluded with an exhibition of the prints produced during the session, turning the campus into a vibrant display of student artistry.

The event was graced by Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal; Vilma Fernandes, vice principal (commerce and arts); Inas Dias, dean (commerce and arts); Kapila Nahender, guest of honour and artist; Vaishali V, assistant artist; Mehefuz Rumi, president of the Art Association; and Dhimahi, secretary of the Art Association.

The workshop was successfully organised under the guidance of art club coordinators Manasa K, Assumpta Crasta, and Fiona Moras, whose efforts contributed to the overall success of the programme. The programme was compered by Khushi, and Assumpta Crasta proposed the vote of thanks.
