Bantwal, Oct 28: Karnataka’s guarantee schemes have become a model for the entire country, with even their original designers reportedly adopting the initiatives, said H M Revanna, president of the Guarantee Schemes Panel Authority.
Speaking at the inauguration of self-help groups of Griha Lakshmi beneficiaries on Tuesday at Dr B R Ambedkar Sabhavana, B C Road, organised under the auspices of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee, Bantwal, Revanna noted that Dakshina Kannada district has the highest number of beneficiaries under the schemes. "Yet it is often those who benefit from the schemes who are critical of them,” he remarked.



Comparing Congress initiatives with BJP projects, Revanna added, “BJP schemes are often remain confined to speeches and rarely translate into action. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has fulfilled all promises made during elections.”
Former minister B Ramanath Rai highlighted that the guarantee schemes and several other Congress programmes have reached the maximum number of beneficiaries in the taluk. “These government initiatives have been highly popular, surpassing criticism, and play a significant role in building a hunger-free society,” he said.
Dignitaries attending the event included P Amarnath, State vice-president of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee; Bharath Mundodi, DK District president; Vasu Poojari Loretto, Town Municipality president; Baby Kunder, Urban Development Authority chairperson; Mamata Gatti, Karnataka Dairy Corporation chairperson; Narayana Naik, District Committee vice-president; Sudheer Shetty, Kadaba Taluk Committee president; Nawade Vinayak Karbari, ZP CEO; and Usman, District Nodal Officer of Grihalakshmi. Taluk committee members were also present.
Jayanti V Poojary, Taluk president of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee, outlined several initiatives undertaken under the taluk committee and noted that Rs 528 crore in grants has been released so far for the five schemes in the taluk.
During the programme, self-help groups were recognised and felicitated for their achievements. The event was welcomed by TP EO Sachin Kumar, while PDO Sunil compered the proceedings.
