WACEM 2025: Global Emergency Medicine Congress held at A J Institute, Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Nov 1: The 11th World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine (WACEM 2025), along with the ACEE Convocation and INDUSEM Awards Ceremony, was held on Friday at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Mangaluru.

Speaking at the event, Dr Sagar Galvankar, chief academic officer of the World Academic Congress of Emergency Medicine, said that emergency medicine plays a vital role in saving lives during medical crises through timely diagnosis, rapid treatment, and coordinated care.

 

 

He said that Mangaluru has become the focal point of the world’s oldest academic emergency medicine congress and that the city is fast emerging as a medical hub. “The coastal region will play a leading role in contributing to the field of emergency medicine in the coming years. A healthy society is built by expert doctors, and there is a growing need to train specialists to handle accident and emergency cases effectively,” he added.

Dr Galvankar also observed that the congress held at A J Hospital serves as a guiding platform to further strengthen emergency medicine departments across the country, preparing doctors to respond swiftly in critical situations.

Delivering his address, Dr Prashant Marla, medical director of A J Hospital, said that the congress was organized by the Indo-US Collaboration for Academic Emergency and Trauma in India, in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Collaborating Centre for Emergency and Trauma in Southeast Asia. He noted that several international organizations and experts took part, making the event a meaningful academic exchange.

More than 800 emergency medicine experts and over 60 international faculty members participated in the congress. Certificates were distributed to medical graduates who successfully completed their specialization in emergency medicine.

A J Shetty, president of WACEM 2025, Prashanth Shetty, vice president, Dr Santosh Sons, organizer, Dr Vimal Krishnan Pillai, general secretary, Dr Ashok Hegde, Dr Praveen Agarwal, Dr Sanjeev Kumar Bhoi, and Dr Siddharth Dubhashi were among those present.
