Mangaluru, Nov 3: Nitte (Deemed to be University) will host its 15th Annual Convocation for its graduates in two ceremonies to be held at its campuses in Mangaluru and Nitte. Together, a total of 1,999 graduates (1353+646) from various disciplines will receive their degrees this year.
The first convocation ceremony will take place on Friday November 7, at 10:30 am at the Nitte Grounds, KSHEMA Campus, Deralakatte. The event will be presided over by the chancellor, N Vinaya Hegde. The convocation address will be delivered by Prof Dr Srinath Reddy K, honorary distinguished professor and goodwill ambassador of the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) for public health partnerships, and former head of the department of cardiology, AIIMS, New Delhi. At this convocation, Nitte (Deemed to be University) will confer the doctor of science (DSc) Honoris Causa posthumously on the late Dr Madhukar ShantharamKekre, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical education, research, and institutional development.


The second convocation ceremony will be held on Saturday November 8, at 10:30 am at the Nitte Off-Campus Centre, Nitte. The event will be presided over by the chancellor, N Vinaya Hegde. The chief guest for this ceremony will be Prof Dr Siddu P Algur, vice-chancellor, Central University of Kerala - a distinguished academic leader and engineer known for his expertise in web mining, knowledge discovery, and big data analytics.
Both ceremonies will be graced by the presence of Prof Dr M Shantharam Shetty, pro-chancellor (Hospital Management); Vishal Hegde, pro-chancellor (Administration); and Prof Dr M S Moodithaya, vice-chancellor, who will deliver the welcome address. Senior university officials Dr Harsha Halahalli, registrar; Prof Dr Prasad B Shetty, controller of examinations; Dr Subramanya Bhat, controller of examinations (Nitte Campus); the heads of the constituent colleges; and members of the executive council and academic council - will also be in attendance at both venues.
At the convocation in the Mangaluru campus, degrees will be conferred under the faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, allied health sciences, humanities, biological sciences, architecture, speech & hearing and hospitality management. At the convocation in the Nitte Off-Campus, degrees will be conferred under the faculties of computer applications, engineering & technology, business administration, and commerce and management. In all, 28 doctoral degrees, 959 postgraduate degrees, 1054 undergraduate degrees, 5 fellowships, and 2 postgraduate diplomas will be awarded at this convocation.
These ceremonies mark a significant milestone for Nitte (Deemed to be University), celebrating the accomplishments of its students and reaffirming its commitment to excellence in higher education, research, and professional development.
