Rare pangolin rescued from plantation in Beltangady, released into forest

Beltangady, Nov 8: A rare pangolin sighted in a plantation at Taridottu in Balanja village was successfully rescued by the Venoor forest department team on Friday and later released safely into the wild.

According to reports, residents spotted the pangolin moving around near the house of Harish Rai, a local resident of Taridottu, and immediately alerted the forest department. Acting swiftly, a team led by Venoor range forest officer Bharat U G reached the spot and managed to capture the animal safely using a cage trap.

After ensuring its well-being, the team released the pangolin into a nearby forest area. The rescue operation saw active participation from forest officials, staff members, and local residents, who assisted the department in ensuring the animal’s safe relocation.

Forest officials appreciated the timely cooperation of villagers in helping protect the rare species.
