ICYM Central Council, Suratkal deanery organise 'Metanoia 2.0'

Mangaluru, Nov 13: ICYM Central Council, diocese of Mangalore, and ICYM Suratkal deanery, in association with the youth commission, diocese of Mangalore, organized Metanoia 2.0 – A Journey of Faith, Worship, and Spiritual Growth on November 8 and 9 at the Divine Retreat Centre, Mulki.

The inaugural programme was graced by Fr Maxim Noronha, Fr Ashwin Cardoza, director of ICYM Mangalore diocese and Karnataka Regional Youth Commission secretary, Fr Praveen D’Souza, designated director, Fr Stany Pinto, director of ICYM Mother Teresa deanery, Vijoy Cardoza, president of ICYM Mangalore diocese, Maria D’Silva, secretary, Ajith D’Souza, president of ICYM Mother Teresa deanery, and Sweedal Rodrigues, secretary.

Fr Maxim Noronha delivered the chief guest’s address, encouraging the youth with his inspiring message and sharing valuable insights. He focused on the importance of spirituality and experiencing God's Love. He was later felicitated in recognition of his dedicated service to the diocese of Mangalore.

Fr Ashwin Cardoza then presented an overview of the Metanoia event, outlining its vision and objectives. The inaugural ceremony was compered by Deena D’Souza.

The evening continued with hymns by the Echoes of Zion band, creating a prayerful atmosphere. This was followed by the Way of Adoration led by Fr Abraham, during which the youth, holding lighted candles, walked through three stations, offering prayers for those struggling with addictions, health issues, and personal challenges. Special prayers were offered to St Carlo Acutis, seeking his intercession for the youth. Fr Abraham was honoured for providing the Divine Retreat Centre and for guiding the youth in adoration.

The first day concluded with a Bible Magic Show by Fr Ivan Madtha, who creatively depicted biblical messages through his performance.

The second day began with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Praveen D’Souza. The youth participated actively in the Holy Mass. Following the Mass, a Peace Rally was flagged off by the police force head constable, Joyce Dsouza. Youth participants marched holding placards with messages of peace and unity.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Fr Austin Peres, vicar forane of Surathkal deanery; Fr Ashwin Cardoza, ICYM Mangalore diocese director and Karnataka youth commission secretary; Fr Stany Pinto, ICYM Mother Teresa deanery director, Fr Abhram, director of Divine Retreat Centre; Jaison Crasta, coordinator of the Mangalore diocese youth commission; Vijoy Cardoza; president of ICYM Mangalore diocese, Maria, secretary Ajith D’Souza; president of Mother Teresa deanery and Sweedel, ssecretary; Lloyd D’Souza, president of ICYM Mulki Unit; Sweedel D’Souza, YCS Mangalore diocese secretary; Clinton D’Souza, MFC formator; Jake Miranda, MFC youth representative; Dexter Saldanha, Jesus youth formator; Saransh, Jesus youth representative; and Salomi D’Souza, AICUF State president.

Ajith D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Jaison Crasta was honoured for his dedicated service as Youth Commission coordinator. Lloyd D’Souza, and Ajith D’Souza were felicitated for their contributions toward the success of Metanoia 2.0.

During the ceremony, the results of the Reel Making Competition were announced. Kulur unit, Mukka unit and Beltangady unit bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively under Jury Award. Public Choice Award was won by Kulur unit.
