Jammu, Nov 14: As the investigation into an inter-state “white-collar” militant network intensifies—spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and central intelligence agencies—Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday urged the people of the Union Territory to take a decisive stand against terror sympathisers.

Speaking at a special convocation ceremony at the University of Jammu, the LG said that while security forces are committed to dismantling the terror ecosystem, public vigilance and cooperation are equally crucial.

“Society must actively counter terrorism because it is a multifaceted challenge. Citizens play a crucial role in identifying and reporting suspicious activities and countering radicalisation efforts,” Sinha said.

He warned that if people do not strongly oppose terrorism and those who support it, it could become an existential threat, jeopardising peace, stability and progress. “I appeal to all enlightened citizens to expose those who provide shelter to terrorists or propagate extremist ideologies. We must stand united,” he added.

Sinha noted that Jammu and Kashmir’s youth are increasingly choosing development, opportunity and a peaceful future over violence—reflecting a significant shift in aspirations after decades of turmoil.

Meanwhile, in a major development earlier on Thursday, security forces demolished the house of Dr Umar Nabi in Quil, Pulwama, using explosives. Dr Nabi, the alleged key conspirator, is accused of driving the explosive-laden vehicle that killed 13 people near Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening.

Police teams from J&K, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, along with national intelligence units, are now conducting a thorough probe to uproot the network. Over 15 individuals, including eight doctors—among them Dr Nabi’s associates Dr Muzamil and Dr Adeel—have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
