KMC Hospital launches prostate health drive on Men’s Day

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 18: To mark Men’s Day, KMC Hospital has launched a special awareness initiative titled ‘Gentle Reminder: Protect Your Prostate’, encouraging men above the age of 50 to take proactive steps toward maintaining good prostate health.

As part of this initiative, the hospital is offering free consultations with expert urologists from November 17 to 28, between 3 pm and 5 pm at Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru. The programme aims to empower men through timely evaluation and early detection of prostate-related conditions.

Prostate-related conditions are common among ageing men, yet many hesitate to seek timely help due to lack of awareness or lingering social stigma.

Symptoms such as difficulty or straining while passing urine, frequent urges especially at night, a persistent sense of incomplete emptying, blood in urine, or a burning sensation accompanied by fever or chills often indicate an underlying concern that requires medical evaluation. The initiative aims to ensure that these signs are not overlooked and that men receive early diagnosis and appropriate care.

Speaking about the importance of Men’s Day and the initiative, Dr Sanman Gowda, HoD & Consultant – Urology, KMC Hospital Mangaluru, said, “Prostate problems are extremely common in ageing men, yet many delay seeking medical help due to hesitation or misconceptions. Early evaluation can prevent complications and significantly improve quality of life. Through this Men’s Day initiative, we want to encourage men to take charge of their health and undergo timely screening. Even mild symptoms should not be ignored, as early intervention makes a major difference.”

The hospital invites all men aged 50 and above to make use of this opportunity and be evaluated.
