New Delhi, Nov 18: India’s home series against Bangladesh, originally slated for December and consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is under the ICC Future Tours Programme, is now expected to be postponed due to escalating political developments in Bangladesh.
Though the official schedule—dates and venues—had not been announced, uncertainty surrounded the tour even before this week’s developments. The situation intensified on Monday after a tribunal court in Bangladesh sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death. Her seeking refuge in India has further strained diplomatic relations, with Dhaka pressing for her return.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received a communication from the BCCI indicating that the series will be rescheduled. While the letter did not specify reasons, the prevailing political tension is believed to be a major factor behind the decision.
The series was intended to be India’s final international assignment before the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL). It also served as a key engagement between India’s triumphant ODI World Cup campaign and the start of the WPL season. The matches were planned in Kolkata and Cuttack, with the ODIs marking the beginning of a new cycle in the Women’s ODI Championship for both teams.
This is not the first adjustment to tours between the two countries. Earlier this year, the Indian men’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh—originally set for August 2025—was pushed to September 2026. At the time, the BCCI stated that the decision was mutually reached by both boards after reviewing international commitments and scheduling feasibility, with revised fixtures to be announced later.
Further updates regarding the rescheduled women’s series are expected once conditions stabilize and both cricket boards review the situation.
