Moodbidri, Nov 18: A team of officials from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) conducted a raid on Pioneer Weld Technologies here and seized materials worth around Rs 10 lac.
According to officials, the unit had been manufacturing welding electrodes without a valid BIS licence and selling them illegally without the mandatory ISI mark.
Acting on this information, a BIS team led by Tushar Sharma, joint director of the Hubballi division, along with assistant directors Ashutosh Agrawal and Ajay Chakravarthy, carried out the operation on November 13.

During the raid, officials seized more than 250 boxes of finished welding electrodes and over 50,000 packaging materials—together valued at approximately Rs 10 lac.
Authorities said that as per regulations, no individual or firm is permitted to manufacture, store, or sell such products without a BIS licence and the prescribed standard markings.
