Udupi: Adani Power distributes Aarogya cards to boost rural healthcare in Yellur, Mudarangadi

Udupi, Nov 24: Adani Power Limited, Udupi Thermal Power Plant, which is operating 1,200 MW power plant in Yellur village of Kaup taluk, Udupi district, in collaboration with the Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, continues to reinforce its commitment to rural welfare through impactful health care initiatives.

As part of its ongoing community development efforts, the company organised a special health care outreach programme aimed at ensuring access to quality medical services for families in Yelluru and Mudarangadi Grama Panchayat. Under this programme, Adani Aarogya Cards / Health Insurance Policy was distributed to the villagers of Yellur and Mudarangadi Grama Panchayats, following the renewal of the annual insurance policy at a project cost of Rs 65 lacs, fully funded under the CSR activities of the Adani Foundation.

A formal card distribution ceremony was held at the premises of Yellur and Mudarangadi Grama Panchayats, where the health insurance cards were handed over by Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group, to the president and members of both the Panchayats.

The renewed insurance policy provides comprehensive health benefits, including cashless treatment, hospitalisation support, and emergency medical services at private hospitals. This initiative has been designed to protect rural families from the financial stress of medical expenses and to ensure timely and uninterrupted access to essential health care.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva said that community health care continues to be one of the central pillars of the Adani Foundation’s CSR focus areas. He emphasised that the Foundation has been extending medical insurance benefits to all households of Yellur and Mudarangadi Grama Panchayat since the year 2015, and that Adani Power Limited spends up to Rs 65 lacs every year towards the premium of this community health insurance coverage.

Highlighting the key features of Adani Aarogya Card, Alva informed that entire family members of both the Panchayats are covered with a sum assured of Rs 50,000 per family. As on today, nearly 9,600 people have been covered under this policy with the total sum insured of Rs 11,85,50,000, he added. He also mentioned about the significant role played by the Mobile Health Care Unit operated by the Foundation, which regularly serves 13 surrounding villages by providing cashless medical consultations, medicines, and preventive health care solutions at the doorstep of rural families.

The initiative received widespread appreciation from the elected representatives, community leaders, and beneficiaries who acknowledged the positive impact of Adani Foundation’s CSR contributions in improving health outcomes in the region. They noted that access to health insurance has significantly reduced out-of-pocket expenses, provided a sense of financial security to families, and encouraged them to seek timely medical support. Several community members expressed that the CSR efforts of Adani Foundation have been a true boon to the villagers, contributing meaningfully to their health, education, and infrastructure needs.

The Adani Foundation reiterated its commitment to strengthening rural health care by continuing to roll out such meaningful and people-centric initiatives that contribute towards building healthier, empowered, and resilient communities.
