Seven injured as Shivshahi bus collides with CNG truck on Mumbai–Goa Highway

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 26: A major accident occurred on the Mumbai–Goa Highway near Mangaon on Wednesday morning, November 26, when a Shivshahi bus collided with a truck carrying CNG cylinders. Seven passengers sustained injuries in the crash and were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, but authorities expressed concern over a potential CNG gas leak from the truck. Video footage shared by Jai Maharashtra Times showed traffic on both sides of the highway being halted as safety personnel checked for any gas leakage.

While the exact cause of the accident is under investigation, News18 Marathi reported that dense morning fog may have contributed to the collision. The thick fog reduced visibility on the highway, making it difficult for drivers to spot oncoming vehicles. Police officials are also examining whether driver negligence played a role in the incident.

This comes shortly after another scare involving a Shivshahi State Transport (ST) bus earlier this month in Matunga, where 28 passengers were evacuated safely after smoke was detected from the bus’s air conditioning unit. Initially feared to be a fire, authorities later confirmed that the smoke caused by the AC unit created panic but no major mishap occurred.

Officials continue to urge drivers to exercise caution on highways during foggy conditions to prevent similar accidents.
