The incident took place near Luoyangzhen Station in Kunming when Test Train No. 55537—conducting checks on seismic monitoring equipment—struck a group of construction workers who had entered a curved section of the track.

Following the collision, China Central Television (CCTV) reported that railway authorities and local officials quickly activated emergency protocols. Rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, medical aid was provided to the injured, and station operations were restored within a few hours.

Kunming’s railway authority released a statement expressing condolences to the victims’ families and confirmed that the cause of the accident is under active investigation. Officials emphasized that those found responsible will face legal consequences and added that safety measures will be strengthened to prevent similar incidents.

Local media noted that both the railway bureau and the Kunming city government responded rapidly, ensuring that services at the station returned to normal by midday. The two injured workers remain under medical care.
