Kolkata woman drugged and molested, police hunt accused

Kolkata, Nov 29: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly abducted, forced to consume alcohol laced with drugs, and molested by a group of men on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on Friday night, police said.

The incident occurred near a bus stand in the Pragati Maidan police station area, where the victim was waiting for an app-based cab. According to police sources, three men arrived in a car, including an acquaintance of the woman whom she had been in contact with for about three months. She was reportedly pushed into the vehicle against her will.

Inside the car, the victim was forced to drink spiked alcohol and subjected to physical abuse. She was later dropped near the Maidan area and rescued by authorities. The woman has been admitted to SSKM Hospital and is receiving treatment.

Police were informed about the case by the hospital, and the victim’s statement has been recorded. A case has been registered against the accused, and a search for the three men is ongoing.

A senior Kolkata Police officer said, “One of the accused was known to the woman. We are hopeful of apprehending the suspects soon.”
