Dr Gerald Pinto elected as president of Udupi diocesan think tank, Michael Rodrigues as secretary

Udupi, Dec 7: Dr Gerald Pinto, retired principal, has been elected as the new president of the Suveechara Chintana–Manthana Team of the Udupi diocese. Michael Rodrigues, the diocesan media coordinator and journalist, has been chosen as the general secretary.

Mary D’Souza of Udyavara, former president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, has been elected as the vice-president.

The new office-bearers were selected during a meeting of the Suveechara Chintana–Manthana think tank team held on Sunday at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Kakkunje.

The diocesan-level team comprises representatives from various fields, including media, medicine, law, social service, nursing, agriculture, entrepreneurship, politics, arts, and theatre. The concept of this team has been implemented across all dioceses in Karnataka under the guidance of the Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council.

The election process was held in the presence of Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi; Roy Castelino, president of the Karnataka Regional Chintana–Manthana team; monsignor Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general of the Udupi diocese; and public relations officer Fr Denis D’Sa.
