Mangaluru: Physical education teacher found dead in well at Kotekar, suicide suspected

Mangaluru, Dec 21: The body of a government school physical education teacher was found in a well at his residence in Kotekar Kondana, triggering suspicion of suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhakar Jogi (51), a resident of Kotekar Kondana and a physical education teacher at the government school in Kallaracody, Naringana gram. His body was found in the well located within the house premises. Police suspect that he may have ended his life due to health-related issues.

According to sources, Prabhakar Jogi’s wife and son began searching for him and later discovered his body in the well. It is stated that he had been suffering from neurological weakness and had appeared depressed since Friday morning.

Prabhakar Jogi had served as a teacher in several schools in Mangaluru and Ullal taluk. He was actively involved in physical education teachers’ organisations and JCI, and was also known as a skilled programme compere. He had served as a director of the teachers’ cooperative society and was active in various organisations. He was also a proficient yoga practitioner.

Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s son, a case has been registered at the Ullal police station.
