Beltangady, Dec 30: A non-bailable warrant has been issued against Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi by the Beltangady court in connection with a hate speech case, as he has been repeatedly absent during the course of the trial.
The case relates to an alleged hate speech delivered on caste lines at a private programme held at Indabettu. Based on a complaint lodged by Kishore Kumar, Beltangady police registered a case and later submitted a charge sheet before the court. The case is currently under trial.

However, Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi has been continuously failing to appear before the court for hearings. In view of his repeated non-appearance, the Beltangady court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him on December 24.
Earlier, an externment order had also been issued against Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi by the Puttur assistant commissioner. Now, a warrant has once again been issued against him in connection with the same case.
