Udupi, Dec 31: The WhatsApp account of Udupi Assembly constituency MLA Yashpal Anand Suvarna has been hacked, following which cyber fraudsters have been sending messages to his contacts seeking money.

The miscreants allegedly gained access to the MLA’s WhatsApp account and sent messages to people in his contact list, requesting financial help. In the messages sent to some individuals, the fraudsters claimed that they needed urgent assistance and later asked for money.

The MLA became aware of the hacking soon after it occurred and alerted his friends and associates to remain cautious.

The MLA’s office has also issued an appeal stating that several people have received messages from the hacked number asking them to transfer money via Google Pay, and has urged the public not to send any money in response to such messages.
