Bengaluru, Jan 6: The makers of Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ on Tuesday unveiled the first look of actor Rukmini Vasanth from the much-anticipated film, adding to the growing buzz around the project.

Sharing a collaboration post featuring Yash, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth and Kiara Advani, the team introduced the actor as Mellisa. “Introducing Rukmini Vasanth as MELLISA in A Toxic Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups,” the caption read.

Set against the backdrop of a vibrant, hazy party scene reminiscent of the late 1960s, Rukmini’s character is presented as fierce yet alluring. With a sharp, determined gaze and commanding presence, Mellisa cuts through the surrounding chaos with quiet confidence, her focused demeanour standing in contrast to the fluid, drifting world around her.

With this reveal, ‘Toxic’ expands its immersive universe following the earlier first looks of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, Nayanthara as Ganga and Tara Sutaria as Rebecca.

Director Geetu Mohandas, speaking about Rukmini Vasanth, praised her depth as a performer. “What I admire most about Rukmini is her intelligence as an actor. She doesn’t just perform; she processes. She asks questions not out of doubt but curiosity, which pushes me to think deeper,” she said.

Mohandas further added that Rukmini’s habit of quietly journaling between shots reflects her thoughtful approach. “She is constantly building her own inner world. At times, I honestly wish I could steal those pages and read them to understand the mind behind such a layered performance,” she remarked.

Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’ is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and several other languages, highlighting its global scale.

The film features a strong technical team, including National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, music composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni and production designer TP Abid.

Toxic is slated for a grand theatrical release on March 19, coinciding with Eid, Ugadi and Gudi Padwa.
