Los Angeles, Jan 10: Several awards-season front-runners, including “One Battle After Another,” “Hamnet,” “Sinners,” “Marty Supreme” and “Frankenstein,” continued their strong run on Friday as the Producers Guild of America (PGA) unveiled nominations for its top honours.
The films were nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures, the PGA’s most prestigious feature-film category. Other nominees in the category include “Bugonia,” “F1,” “Sentimental Value,” “Train Dreams” and “Weapons.”

Among the biggest surprises this year were “F1,” an auto-racing drama that had not featured prominently in earlier awards lists, and indie horror film “Weapons,” whose awards prospects were earlier considered uncertain. In contrast, two high-profile sequels — “Avatar: Fire and Ash” and “Wicked: For Good” — failed to secure nominations, following their omission from the BAFTA longlists earlier the same day.
Notably, five films — “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” — earned nominations across three major guilds this week: the Producers Guild, Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) ensemble category, strengthening their Best Picture prospects.
Since both the Academy Awards and the PGA expanded their Best Picture line-ups to 10 nominees in 2009, nearly 90 per cent of Oscar Best Picture contenders have first been recognised by the Producers Guild. Only once, in 2024, did the PGA and Oscar nominations match exactly. Historically, “Braveheart” remains the only film to win the Oscar for Best Picture without a prior PGA nomination.
Animated and television categories
In the animated feature category, nominees include “The Bad Guys 2,” “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” “Elio,” “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Zootopia 2.”
Television nominations saw “The Diplomat,” “The Pitt” and “Pluribus” compete in the drama category, while “Hacks,” “The Studio” and “South Park” were nominated for comedy. Limited series nominees include “Adolescence,” “The Beast in Me” and “Dying for Sex.”
Voting for children’s, short-form and sports categories will conclude on January 19, with winners announced during the week of February 23. Voting for film and television categories will end on February 3, ahead of the 37th annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony scheduled for February 28.
At the ceremony, honorary awards will be presented to Amy Pascal, Jason Blum and Mara Brock Akil.
