Ugandan woman arrested for supplying drugs from Bengaluru to Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jan 12: Mangaluru CCB police have arrested a woman of Ugandan origin who was allegedly supplying the narcotic drug MDMA from Bengaluru to Mangaluru in a systematic manner for distribution among youths in the city.

The accused, identified as Jalia Zhalwango, was arrested with 4 kg of MDMA at Jigani on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore.

Police said the accused was produced before a court, which remanded her to judicial custody. She will be taken into police custody for further interrogation, the police commissioner said.

With this arrest, police said a major drug supply network to Mangaluru has been busted. Earlier, six drug peddlers in Mangaluru had been arrested in connection with the case and are currently in judicial custody.
