Mumbai, Jan 13: Actor Emraan Hashmi had a narrow escape on Tuesday after the Akasa Air flight he was travelling on from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was forced to divert to Jaipur due to landing issues. The actor was en route to Ahmedabad to promote his upcoming web series ‘Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web’.
According to reports, Akasa Air flight QP 1781, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, departed Mumbai at around 8.40 am on January 13 and was scheduled to land at Ahmedabad airport at 10 am. However, as the aircraft approached Ahmedabad, the pilots reportedly made two attempts to land, both of which were unsuccessful.

Following the failed landing attempts, the crew decided to reroute the flight to Jaipur as a precautionary measure. The aircraft landed safely in Jaipur, and all passengers, including Emraan Hashmi, were reported to be safe.
Meanwhile, Hashmi is gearing up for the release of ‘Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web’, a suspense thriller that delves into the dark and dangerous world of global smuggling. The series traces illicit routes spanning Al-Dera, Addis Ababa, Milan and Bangkok, exposing how smugglers exploit fake documents, secret pathways and elaborate deception.
The story revolves around a team of upright customs officers at Mumbai Airport — Arjun Meena (Emraan Hashmi), Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar), Ravinder Gujjar (Nandish Singh Sandhu) and Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha) — who rely on intelligence and instinct to crack complex smuggling networks. Standing in their way is notorious kingpin Bada Chaudhary, played by Sharad Kelkar, and his well-oiled criminal syndicate.
Created by Neeraj Pandey, the series promises a gripping cat-and-mouse chase where every suitcase, passenger and cargo shipment hides sinister secrets. ‘Taskaree: The Smuggler's Web’ is set to premiere on Netflix on January 14, 2026.
