Udupi, Jan 16: As Udupi prepares to witness the historic Shirooru Paryaya Mahotsava of Shirooru Math, the city is set to be immersed in classical melodies through the much-anticipated "Swaranjali music programme". Organised by leading digital and home appliances showroom Harsha, the event promises to enhance the festive fervour associated with the Paryaya celebrations.
The Harsha Swaranjali programme will be held on January 17 at 6.30 pm at the Town Hall (Purabhavana), Udupi. Entry to the programme is free, and complimentary passes are available at Harsha showrooms in Udupi, Mangaluru, Surathkal, Brahmavar, Kundapur and Puttur.

Renowned classical vocalist Savani Shende will headline the evening with her soulful rendition of Hindustani classical music. Born into a musical family, Savani began her training at a young age under the guidance of her grandmother Kusuma Shende. She gave her first public performance at the age of ten and has since established her own identity through performances across national and international platforms. Her repertoire includes diverse forms such as Khayal, Thumri and Dadra. She will be accompanied by Guruprasad Hegde on harmonium and Shridhar Mandre on tabla.
Swaranjali, which has been held successfully for over 26 years, has become an integral cultural feature of the Paryaya celebrations. The initiative began in 2000 with performances by Shashidhar Kote and Venkatesh Kumar and has since featured an illustrious lineup of classical maestros including T N Seshagopalan, Malladi Brothers, Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Gayathri Girish, Jayateertha Mevundi, Kaushiki Chakraborty, TM Krishna, among others. Instrumental maestros such as Praveen Godkhindi, Rafique Khan, and several distinguished ensembles have also graced the stage over the years.
The 2026 edition marks the 13th Swaranjali celebration during the Paryaya, reaffirming its legacy as a cherished platform for classical music lovers. Over the past twelve Paryayas, Swaranjali has drawn enthusiastic audiences and contributed significantly to the cultural richness of the grand Paryaya Mahotsava.
