New Delhi, Jan 20: Panic prevailed at a prominent public school in northwest Delhi’s Aman Vihar after police were alerted that a student was carrying a firearm inside the campus, prompting swift action by law enforcement on Monday.
Acting on the information and considering the seriousness of the threat to student safety, a local police team rushed to the school. On arrival, school authorities produced an 18-year-old student along with a country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges, which were allegedly recovered from his possession.

Police said the incident came to light during a routine inspection when the school’s estate officer noticed the student attempting to hide an object inside a second-floor toilet. After realising that he had been spotted, the student allegedly tried to leave the area but was intercepted near the school stage. A subsequent search led to the recovery of the firearm and ammunition.
The student was taken before the school principal, who immediately informed the police. During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly told investigators that he was carrying the weapon due to a personal dispute with another student.
A case has been registered against the student under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Aman Vihar Police Station, and he was taken into custody. He was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Rohini Court, which granted two days of police custody for further interrogation.
Police said investigations are underway to ascertain the source of the firearm and to determine whether any other individuals were involved in the matter.
