Tulukoota Qatar to celebrate silver jubilee: 25 years of pride, purpose & cultural legacy

Qatar, Jan 21: Tulukoota Qatar, a Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy Award winner, is a community-based organisation registered with the Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Indian Embassy.

This year, Tulukoota Qatar marks its silver jubilee, completing 25 years of a journey rooted in unity, culture and community leadership.

The movement began as a small gathering of Tulu-speaking individuals in a foreign land and, over the years, has evolved into a vibrant centre for culture and sports, dedicated to preserving and nurturing the rich heritage of Tulunadu.

 

Over the past quarter century, Tulukoota has transitioned seamlessly across generations, emerging as a platform for nurturing community leaders and local talent, while strengthening cultural identity among the diaspora.

Sandesh Anand, the youngest president of the organisation, has been actively steering the 25th year celebrations and has highlighted the strong grassroots work undertaken by the organisation in promoting culture and sports. He has also acknowledged the support of sponsors who have played a key role in the silver jubilee celebrations. They include:

• Title sponsor – M Pallonji WLL
• Diamond sponsor – Al Muftah Trading and Contracting WLL
• Golden sponsors – Golden Trading and Decoration, and Dr Ronald Colaco and family

The silver jubilee celebration will be held on January 23 at Delhi Public School, Wakra, from 3.30 pm and is expected to be a vibrant cultural evening bringing together members and well-wishers of Tulukoota. Navneeth Shetty Kadri from Tulunadu will take the audience through the evening’s proceedings. A grand stage performance involving over 150 participants will showcase the organisation’s journey, milestones and achievements.

The celebrations will also feature a musical night led by popular singer Guru Kiran, accompanied by Anuradha Bhat, Aishwarya Ranganathan and Santhosh Venky. The programme will be compered by Anushree.

The list of guests includes Vipul, Ambassador of India to Qatar; Nadoja Dr G Shankar, proprietor, G Shankar Family Trust, Udupi; Haji Zakariya Jokatte, CEO, Al Muzzain Group; Vishweshwar Bhat, editor-in-chief, Vishwavani; and Ashley Fernandes, founder, Riya Foundation.

As part of its silver jubilee initiatives, Tulukoota will donate 10 wheelchairs to Wenlock District Government Hospital, Mangaluru, extending support to special needs initiatives.

The event, to be held at DPS Wakra, is expected to draw a large gathering of members, dignitaries and well-wishers, marking a memorable milestone in Tulukoota’s legacy.

As Tulukoota completes 25 years, the silver jubilee stands as a testament to its sustained commitment to culture, community and collective growth.
