Bantwal, Jan 25: A case has been registered at Bantwal City police station in connection with cheating a bank by defaulting on a loan taken for the purchase of a lorry and subsequently transferring the vehicle using forged documents.

Tanveer, Nebisha and Melkarin Junaid of Beltangady, and Rameez Alish of Uppinangady have been named as the accused. According to the complaint, Tanveer had availed a loan from a bank’s Uppinangady branch to purchase a lorry but later failed to repay the instalments. He allegedly handed over responsibility of the vehicle to Junaid through a GPA.

It is further alleged that a letter falsely stating that the bank loan had been cleared was created using a forged signature of a bank official. This document was submitted to the Bantwal RTO office, following which the vehicle was fully transferred.

Bank official Suryanarayana, in his complaint, stated that all four accused were involved in the process. Based on the complaint, Bantwal City police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.
