Bengaluru, Feb 4: With the SSLC annual examinations approaching, the education department has launched a new initiative aimed at improving students’ performance by creating a distraction-free study environment at home.

As part of the campaign, teachers have begun visiting students’ homes to create awareness among parents about the importance of focused preparation during the crucial examination period.

According to a circular issued by the department, mobile phones and television sets in every household are to be completely switched off daily between 7 pm and 9 pm until the conclusion of the examinations. The SSLC exams are scheduled to be held from March 18 to April 2.

The objective of the initiative is to ensure that students devote uninterrupted time to studies during the evening hours, which the department believes will help them concentrate better and improve academic outcomes. Officials said the measure would support students during one of the most important phases of their academic life.

While several students have welcomed the move, saying it would help them focus on studies, questions remain over how strictly the guideline will be followed by parents in practice.
