Udupi, Feb 16: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, has taken a significant step towards strengthening integrative healthcare with the inauguration of the Triveni Centre for Yoga, Siddha and Naturopathy on Wednesday, January 28.
Functioning under the Centre for Integrative Medicine and Research (CIMR), the centre aims to promote holistic healthcare, education, and research through the systematic integration of traditional systems of medicine with contemporary medical practices.



The centre envisions becoming a national hub for holisitc clinical care, education, and translational research in traditional and integrative medicine.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with an auspicious Ganahoma, symbolising harmony, wellbeing, and the pursuit of knowledge. The ritual reflected the core philosophy of the centre, which seeks to blend ancient medical wisdom with modern scientific approaches in fostering holistic health.
The Triveni Centre was formally inaugurated by Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MAHE, Manipal, in the distinguished presence of Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, VSM (Retd), vice-chancellor, MAHE, Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, Dr P Giridhar Kini, registrar, MAHE, and Dr Anand Venugopal, chief operating officer, MAHE, Manipal. The dignitaries underscored the growing relevance of integrative medicine in modern healthcare and commended the collaborative efforts that culminated in the establishment of this centre.
The event was attended by faculty members from the disciplines of health sciences, technology, and humanities, along with healthcare professionals actively engaged in integrative medicine initiatives at MAHE.
The Triveni Centre is jointly led by Dr Neetinakumar J Patil, head, Division of Yoga and Naturopathy, and Dr Arul Amuthan, head, Division of Siddha, under CIMR, MAHE. The centre will offer comprehensive clinical services, structured training programmes, and multidisciplinary research opportunities in Yoga, Naturopathy, and Siddha, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based integrative healthcare grounded in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
Academic programmes offered
As part of its academic mandate, the centre offers the following programmes:
MSc in Yoga Therapy (Regular programme)
Postgraduate certificate course in Siddha Varmam Therapy (Hybrid Mode)
Certificate and elective courses in Yoga and Siddha across disciplines, designed to provide interdisciplinary exposure to students from health sciences, technology, allied health sciences, and humanities, fostering integrative competencies and holistic healthcare perspectives.
Designed to support patient care, teaching, training, research and outreach activities, the centre is equipped with state-of- the facilities creating a serene and conducive environment for therapeutic, educational, and scholarly activities.
