Mangaluru, Feb 16: South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank (SDCC Bank), under the leadership of its president Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, has further strengthened its digital banking services by introducing UPI and IMPS facilities for its customers.
Addressing a press meet, Dr Rajendra Kumar stated that the bank, which has been functioning as a model cooperative bank in the country, has consistently adopted modern banking technologies to provide efficient services to its customers. The bank has already been offering core banking services along with RTGS/NEFT, CTS, SMS alerts, ATM facilities, mobile banking, and POS services successfully.

He said that the banking sector has undergone significant transformation in recent years, with digital services replacing conventional systems. Customers today expect seamless access to their accounts through internet banking, mobile applications, and instant payment platforms. In line with this evolving demand, the DCC Bank has implemented advanced digital banking solutions.
As part of its digital expansion, the bank introduced IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) from September 16, 2025. Through the bank’s mobile application, customers can instantly transfer funds using the IMPS facility. Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), IMPS enables 24x7 fund transfers, including on weekends and public holidays. Customers can transfer money to any bank account using the P2A (Person to Account) option with the account number and IFSC code.
Taking another major step towards strengthening the Digital India initiative, the bank launched UPI (Unified Payments Interface) services on January 21, 2026. With the UPI facility, customers can transfer and receive money instantly and securely. The service supports transactions through popular digital payment platforms such as Google Pay, PhonePe, BHIM, WhatsApp Pay, Paytm, Freecharge, and Super Money.
Dr Rajendra Kumar noted that the UPI facility will greatly benefit small traders, farmers, shopkeepers, students, and salaried employees. Even small vendors can now accept digital payments through QR codes, making transactions faster and more convenient. The facility is particularly useful for small-value daily payments, e-commerce transactions, and person-to-person transfers.
The official inauguration programme of UPI and IMPS services will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 12 noon at the bank’s auditorium. The bank president appealed to the print and electronic media to extend their support in creating awareness about the newly introduced digital banking facilities and to participate in the inauguration programme.
Reaffirming the bank’s commitment, Dr Rajendra Kumar said that DCC Bank remains dedicated to providing modern, customer-friendly banking services and expressed confidence that the new digital initiatives will enhance the overall banking experience of its customers.
