Panaji, Feb 16: Chief electoral officer Sanjay Goel announced that the official confirmation of a voter’s name in Goa’s electoral roll will be available after the final roll is published on February 21.

Over 2.2 lakh notices were issued during the 2002 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to unmapped individuals and in cases of logical discrepancies. “The reflection of one’s name in the final roll will serve as official confirmation,” Goel said. Voters whose names do not appear may appeal to the district electoral officer within 30 days of publication and can further appeal to the CEO within an additional 30 days.

The Election Commission of India had recently extended the final publication date for the SIR to February 21, using January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.

During the revision process, over one lakh names were removed from the rolls. Of these, more than 40,000 voters were found to have shifted, over 29,000 were absent or untraceable, 25,000 were deceased, and around 2,000 were already enrolled elsewhere. The highest deletions were reported in Vasco, Cortalim, Fatorda, Santa Cruz, and Taleigao.
