YENIXA 2026 concludes with grandeur at Yenepoya Institute; St Aloysius emerges overall champion

Mangaluru, Feb 17: YENIXA 2026, a national-level intercollegiate fest organised by the Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management (YIASCM), was inaugurated with much enthusiasm and concluded on a vibrant note at the Kulur campus here on Monday, February 16.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the YMK Auditorium in the distinguished presence of chief guest Vasudev Kamath, vice president and development centre head, Infosys, Mangaluru. Guests of honour included Sajeev Gulati, chairman and CMD, Entrepot Cargo Group, UAE, and Dr Leena K C, principal, Yenepoya Nursing College, Mangaluru. Prof Jeevan Raj, principal (I/C), Prof Shareena P, vice principal and dean, faculty of commerce and management, Narayan Sukumar A, vice principal, programme coordinator Bindiya, faculty members, staff and students were present.

The programme commenced with a prayer rendered by Ahmed Batish of II BCom, followed by the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Prof Shareena P highlighted that platforms like YENIXA provide students opportunities to interact, socialise and enhance their academic and co-curricular competencies. She noted that such events foster communication skills, teamwork and confidence, while encouraging students to explore their potential beyond classrooms.

Chief guest Vasudev Kamath urged students to prepare for future careers in an evolving global landscape. Emphasising adaptability and lifelong learning, he stressed the importance of problem-solving skills, teamwork, digital literacy and networking in today’s competitive environment. He encouraged students to step beyond their academic comfort zones and acquire interdisciplinary exposure.

Guest of honour Sajeev Gulati described students as the driving force of the nation’s future and called upon them to strive for excellence, integrity and continuous skill development. Dr Leena K C appreciated the organisers for providing a meaningful platform that nurtures creativity and personality development.

In his presidential address, Prof Jeevan Raj congratulated the organising team and underscored the value of collaborative learning and experiential participation for holistic growth.

The fest featured a wide array of competitions including best manager, IT manager, coding, web designing, e-sports, HR, finance, marketing, team entrepreneurship, mock press, quiz, mystery case, face painting, ramp walk and several cultural performances. A total of 651 students from 35 colleges across Mangaluru, Karnataka and neighbouring states participated, reflecting the fest’s growing prominence.

Valedictory ceremony

The valedictory programme was held at the quadrangle in the presence of chief guest Preethi Nayak, co-founder, Joos Botal, Mangaluru. Prof Jeevan Raj, Narayan Sukumar A and student president Fahaz Ahmed were present on the dais.

In her address, Preethi Nayak emphasised that learning is a continuous process and urged students to remain updated and competitive. She stated that success extends beyond academics and active participation in co-curricular activities helps build confidence and professional identity.

Prof Jeevan Raj congratulated the participants for their spirited involvement and lauded the organising committee for the seamless execution of the event.

St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, emerged as the overall champion of YENIXA 2026, securing the trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Canara College, Mangaluru, was declared runner-up and received a trophy and Rs 10,000 in cash prize.

The programme concluded with prize distribution, vote of thanks and the National Anthem, marking the successful culmination of YENIXA 2026 amid enthusiasm and celebration.
