Udupi: Katapady youth dies during trip to Guwahati

Udupi, Feb 17: A youth from Udupi district who had travelled to Guwahati in Assam with a group of friends has passed away after reportedly falling ill during the trip.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok Acharya (33), a resident of Sarkarigudde near Katapady in Kapu taluk, Udupi district.

According to sources, Ashok was part of a team that had gone on a tour to Guwahati in Assam. During the trip, he is said to have developed health complications due to blood clotting in the brain, which left him critically ill.

He was immediately shifted to a local hospital in Guwahati for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.

After completing the legal formalities, the mortal remains were flown to Bengaluru and later brought by ambulance via road to his residence at Subhas Nagar, Katapady, in Kaup taluk of Udupi district, where the last rites were performed. His untimely demise left family members, relatives, friends, and villagers grief-stricken.

Unmarried, Ashok Acharya is survived by his father Vyasraya Acharya, mother Vanishree, brothers Rajesh Acharya, a Wipro sales and service employee in Mangaluru, and Santosh Acharya, a mechanical engineering professor at MITE Engineering College, Moodbidri, and sister Shwetha.

Friends who were with him said that Ashok Acharya led a very simple life. They stayed with him continuously at the hospital without leaving and rendered constant support, and remained by his side in deep sorrow until the mortal remains were taken home and the final rites were completed.
