Mangaluru, Feb 23: The premier Konkani organisation, Mandd Sobhann which has its mission to preserve, promote, enrich Konkani Language & Culture and to ensure the transmission of the Konkani’s heritage to the future generations, organises its 291st ‘Mainyalli Manchi’ (Monthly Theatre) on March 1, at Kalaangann open air auditorium.
Mandd Sobhann – literally means a ‘Beautiful Stage’ has so far presented 290 stage musical shows besides dramas, cultural events, debates, etc. Mandd Sobhann has succeeded in building bridges across dialects, communities, and regions, allowing all Konkanis to claim the music. Mandd Sobhann stands as a testament to the resilience and richness of Konkani heritage, recognized as the custodian of Konkani culture worldwide.

On March 1 at 6.30 pm at its Kalaangann auditorium, a musical show - Robin Sequeira Live - will showcase its ‘Moinyalli Manchi. It will have some of the best talents on Konkani music and singing such as Zeena Pereira, Carol Sequeira, Meera Crasta, besides ‘Little Legends in the making’ who will be there to mesmerise the audience. The musical programme will have Rajgopal on guitar, Veekshith the professional percussionist, Ivan Pereira on drums, Stephen Frank on flute and keyboard, Vijay Rasquinha on rhythm guitar, Derick D’Souza on bass guitar.
While the famed music director Roshan D’Souza will conduct the musical arrangements, the much-acclaimed lyricist, journalist Lloyd Rego Taccode will be the master of ceremony.
The ‘Moinyalli Manchi’ is dedicated to the memory of the late Eric Ozario, the founder of Mandd Sobhann who is also called ‘Thakanathlo Juzari’ (The indefatigable Crusader’) who has strived for the upliftment of Konkani language till his last breath. To supplement it, the book of Hemacharya, the acclaimed writer and Journalist, which is being dedicated to the late thespian and his wife ‘Konknni Abolem’ Joyce Ozario.
The book is titled ‘Amchi Mathi, Amchim Monxam’ and features 47 Konkani stalwarts. Besides Joyce Ozario who will release the book, the president of Mandd Sobhann, Louis Pinto, Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld media, Stany Alvares, the co-ordinator and president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Roy Castelino, the Pirjent (sponsor) will be on the dais.

About the book ‘Amchi Mathi, Amchi Monxam’
It may be recalled that the first volume of Hemacharya’s book was released in Dubai in 2005 during the 'daijidubai' anniversary at Indian Consulate. It was released by the emerging builder/entrepreneur, Rohan Monteiro. Twenty years later, Hemacharya has come out with the second volume covering 47 Konkani celebrities including Rohan Monteiro who by now is the 'Number One' builder of the coastal region.
It has articles on Michael D'Souza, another philanthropist who has donated millions to humanitarian causes. The book also contains articles about Austin D'Souza Prabhu, the Mangalurean journalist currently based in the USA. Besides them, the All India Radio fame Concepta Alva, the master journalist Gabriel Vaz, Jacob Crasta the great entrepreneur of Bengaluru, Joseph Mathias another philanthropist, Stany Alvares, the president of KKSA, Builder/Social Reformer Roy Castelino, Prof Valerian Crasta, the first Mangalurean who was the lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman are featured in the book.
The book has included GSB Konkani’s such as stalwarts Basti Vaman Shenoy of VKK fame, Raghunath Shet of S L Shet Jewellers & Diamonds, K G Mallya, the banker who has 27 books on banking practices and Kasargod Chinna who has reached Konkani language to each household through his 'Ghar Ghar Konkani Abhiyan.'
It has articles on prominent priests and nuns from Mangaluru, such as Fr Peter Noronha, Fr Charles Vas, Fr Mark Valder, Fr Frad Rupert Capuchin, Fr Paul D'Cunha, his brother Fr S D'Cunha, Fr Victor Pinto who wrote the first new testament in Konkani and Dr Sister Lilian of Bethany who was the head of Concetta Hospital in Kinnigoli.
Also, the Konkani litterateurs Edwin J F D'Souza, Herolpius, Gladys Sequeira, Maurice Cabral, Paul Moras, and Richie Pais find a place in the book in addition to music legends like Apolinaris D'Souza, Lawrence Saldanha and others.
Mandd Sobhann is acclaimed as more than an organisation, but a living, breathing community of passionate individuals dedicated to preserving and promoting Konkani culture. The people behind this movement are its greatest asset, contributing unique talents, skills, and unwavering dedication.
