Bantwal: Missing Class 10 student from Bengaluru found dead at Gurukula pond, Vittal

Bantwal, Feb 23: The body of a Class 10 student from Maitreyi Gurukula Vidyasamsthe, located at Moorkaje near Kodangai, was discovered in the gurukula pond on Monday, sparking shock in the local community.

The deceased has been identified as Vaiga Lakshmi, a Bengaluru native, who had reportedly gone missing on Sunday, February 22. "We began a search immediately after her disappearance was reported," said a local resident familiar with the family.

Following the tip-off, a search operation was conducted, leading to the grim discovery in the gurukula pond earlier today.

Officials from Vittal police station visited the site and are carrying out a detailed investigation. The recovered body was shifted to a private hospital in Deralakatte for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward to assist with the probe.
