One-year jail term, fine imposed in caste abuse case in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 28: In connection with a caste abuse case reported in 2021 under the jurisdiction of the Venoor police station, the second additional district and sessions court in Mangaluru has sentenced the accused, Khalid Abdul Khader, to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.

The then investigating officer, Valentine D’Souza, deputy superintendent of police of Bantwal subdivision, had filed the charge sheet before the court.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, Judge Jagadish V N pronounced the sentence and issued the order. Government prosecutor Jyothi Nayak argued the case on behalf of the complainant.
