Udupi, Mar 1: In a significant exposure to the nation's maritime capabilities, 161 cadets from the 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, Udupi, along with 18 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) and Permanent Instructor (PI) staff, embarked on a memorable visit to the formidable aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, at the naval base in Karwar on Feb 28.

The visit provided a rare opportunity for the young trainees to witness first-hand the operational might of the Indian Navy. The INS Vikramaditya, a massive behemoth of the seas, left the cadets thoroughly impressed with its cutting-edge technology and the sheer scale of its operations.

During the tour, the cadets gained invaluable insights into the complex functioning of a modern aircraft carrier. They were shown various departments and equipment, and interacted with the ship's company, who demonstrated the high standards of professionalism and discipline maintained onboard. The experience proved to be an eye-opener for many, offering a clear perspective on naval life, the nuances of maritime operations, and the diverse career prospects available within the service.

The excursion was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of commander Ashwin M Rao, commanding officer of the 6 Karnataka Naval Unit NCC, with assistance from the unit's icer, Lt Cdr M A Multani. This initiative continues the unit's commitment to providing practical training exposure to its cadets. It is noteworthy that a similar educational visit was organized last year to the indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, highlighting the NCC's focus on showcasing the country's naval advancements and fostering a sense of patriotism among the youth.
