Kundapur: Woman dies after drowning during trekking trip near Hosangadi

Kundapur, Mar 1: A 53-year-old woman tragically lost her life after drowning in a river during a trekking expedition near Hosangadi on February 28.

The deceased has been identified as Shubhashree Karanth (53), the owner of a well-known medical shop in Kundapur.

According to sources, a group of 8–10 people from Kundapur had gone trekking towards the Metkal Hill area near Hosangadi. During the outing, Shubhashree reportedly entered the river and accidentally drowned.

Her body has been shifted to the government hospital in Kundapur for further procedures.

Police personnel from the Amasebail station visited the spot, gathered preliminary information, and have initiated an investigation. Further details regarding the exact cause of the accident are awaited.
