Mangaluru, Mar 4: KMC Hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, Mangaluru, officially launched KLICK – KMC Lifestyle & Integrated Care Klinic on Wednesday March 4, marking World Obesity Day with a renewed commitment to tackling the growing burden of obesity and metabolic disorders.

The clinic was inaugurated in the presence of senior medical experts including Dr Basavaprabhu Achappa, consultant – internal medicine; Aruna Mallya, senior dietician; Dr Vidya Bhat, consultant surgical gastroenterology & bariatric surgeon; and Dr Revati Amin, consultant physiotherapist. The press meet introduced KLICK as a comprehensive, doctor-led and clinically supervised lifestyle program for adolescents and adults.

With obesity emerging as a major risk factor for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and other chronic illnesses—even at a young age—the clinic aims to offer structured, evidence-based interventions. The programme promises measurable improvements in weight, HbA1c and cholesterol levels within three to six months.

Further strengthening the clinic's multidisciplinary approach, endocrinologist and hormone disorder specialist Dr Shrinath P Shetty will provide expert care for hormone-related weight challenges. His role focuses on addressing physiological barriers to weight loss, including menopause-related weight gain and complex eating disorders.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Basavaprabhu Achappa said overweight is not merely a cosmetic concern but a complex metabolic condition affecting individuals across age groups. He emphasized that KLICK adopts a 360-degree framework integrating personalized nutrition plans, endurance and strength training, and closely monitored medication to achieve sustained metabolic health.

Aruna Mallya highlighted the importance of sustainable and customized diet plans tailored to individual metabolic needs. She noted that proper nutritional balance plays a crucial role in improving blood parameters and overall well-being.

Dr Vidya Bhat stressed that obesity, for many, is a chronic condition requiring medical supervision beyond willpower alone. She added that while lifestyle modification forms the foundation of the program, specialized expertise in bariatric surgery is also available for patients requiring advanced intervention.

Dr Revati Amin underscored the importance of combining endurance training with structured weight training to build muscle mass, improve metabolism and enhance functional strength across age groups.

To promote proactive health management, the clinic has introduced a special weight loss package priced at 5,050. The package includes essential blood investigations, diagnostic scans and expert consultations with the multidisciplinary team, serving as the first step toward clinically monitored wellness.

With regular follow-ups, personalized tracking and continuous medical supervision, KLICK focuses on delivering steady and sustainable results rather than short-term changes. By integrating medical care and lifestyle guidance under one roof, the initiative reflects the hospital's commitment to preventive healthcare and long-term metabolic wellness in the community.
