Beltangady: Absconding theft accused arrested after six years by Dharmasthala police

Beltangady, Mar 6: Police from Dharmasthala police station arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly six years in connection with a theft case registered at the station.

The accused has been identified as Venkatesh Dabar Venkatesh (38), a resident of Gerupalya in Kumbalagodu, Bengaluru.

According to police, the accused had failed to appear before the Beltangady court after a case was registered against him and had been on the run for about six years.

Acting on a tip-off, Dharmasthala police traced and arrested him from Tiptur in Tumakuru district on March 4. The accused was produced before the Beltangady court on March 5, which later released him on suitable bail.

Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
