Jamshedpur, Mar 10: Athlete Anant Rana created history by successfully completing the ‘Full Ironman New Zealand’ triathlon held in Taupo, New Zealand, finishing the gruelling endurance event in 11 hours and 50 minutes.
The 33-year-old resident of Sonari in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, who is associated with the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, completed all three segments of the race — swimming, cycling and the marathon run — well within the stipulated 17-hour time limit.

Rana covered 3.8 kilometres of swimming in 1 hour and 28 minutes, followed by 180 kilometres of cycling in 6 hours and 19 minutes. He then completed the 42-kilometre marathon run in 3 hours and 46 minutes.
By finishing the demanding triathlon, Rana joined the elite group of athletes who have completed one of the world’s toughest endurance competitions.
