Udupi: Accused absconding for 15 years nabbed

Udupi, Mar 24: Malpe police have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly 15 years without appearing before the court. The accused, identified as Zubair (42), a resident of Padutonse Kodibengre, was arrested on March 22 in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru.

A case had been registered against him in 2011 for allegedly cheating the Kalyanpur Ganapati Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha by pledging fake gold and availing loans worth lacs of rupees.

As he had been absconding for a long period without appearing before the court, a special team was formed under the guidance of the Udupi deputy superintendent of police and the Malpe circle inspector. The team was led by Malpe police sub-inspector Anil Kumar D., and included head constables Suresh Kumar, Vishwanath, Bhaskar, and Kubera.

The accused was produced before the court on March 23.
