Bantwal: Govt bus, tipper collide in Vittal; KSRTC driver, conductor assaulted by trucker

Bantwal, Mar 24: A head-on collision between a KSRTC bus and a tipper truck took place at Muccheripadavu near Vittal on Tuesday, March 24. While no passengers were injured in the accident, the situation escalated into a physical altercation.

The KSRTC bus was plying from Pakalakunja to Vittal, while the tipper was heading towards Peruvai when the two vehicles collided. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred due to the high speed of the tipper truck.

Assault on bus staff

Following the collision, a heated argument broke out between the drivers of both vehicles. During the exchange, the tipper driver, identified as Bilal, allegedly launched a physical assault on the KSRTC bus conductor, Prashanth, while he was on duty.

The conductor, Prashanth, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Vittal government hospital.

Second attack on driver

The confrontation did not end there. Reports suggest that while the conductor was being taken to the hospital for treatment, Bilal also assaulted the KSRTC bus driver.

Local residents who gathered at the spot expressed concern over the reckless driving of heavy vehicles in the area. The local police have been informed of the incident, and further investigations are underway.
