Navi Mumbai, Apr 5: In a major success for local law enforcement, the Navi Mumbai Police returned stolen property valued at Rs 2.27 crore to their rightful owners during special events held at Panvel taluka police station and a college premises in Nerul on Friday and Saturday.
The recovered property had been seized in various cases across Panvel City, Panvel taluka, Khandeshwar, Nerul, CBD-Belapur, NRI Coastal, and Navi Mumbai Airport police stations, covering both Panvel and CBD divisions.

Panvel Division Recovery:
• 23 four-wheelers – Rs 89 lakh
• 42 mobile phones – Rs 7.25 lakh
• 580 grams of gold ornaments – Rs 59.55 lakh
• 8 two-wheelers – Rs 1.84 lakh
ACP (Panvel Division) Bhausaheb Dhole stated that the property was seized in FIRs registered between January and March. The gold ornaments included items recovered from chain snatchings, house break-ins, and cheating cases.
Senior Inspector Gajanan Ghadge highlighted a heartwarming moment when a woman recovered a gold chain gifted by her maternal grandfather, which had been stolen in a pillion-bike snatching.
CBD Division Recovery:
• 274 grams of gold ornaments
• 530 grams of silver
• Copper cables, laptop, 11 two-wheelers, 1 auto rickshaw, 37 mobile phones – collectively worth Rs 68.85 lac
ACP (CBD Division) Mayur Bhujbal said the recovered property came from 21 FIRs of theft and snatching and 38 property-missing complaints. One notable case involved a gold chain lost at a bus stop in Nerul.
The recovered items were returned to grateful owners, reflecting the police’s effective action and commitment to public service. Many recipients expressed relief and emotion upon reclaiming their stolen belongings.
This operation underscores Navi Mumbai Police’s proactive efforts in crime detection and recovery, reassuring citizens about safety and justice in the city.
