Pune, Apr 6: Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane sparked controversy with a series of aggressive and contentious remarks while addressing a ‘Virat Hindu Sammelan’ in the Bhairavnagar area of Dhanori.

Speaking at the gathering, Rane said that if the Hindu community unites, no force can stop it, and called for greater consolidation to “protect Hindu culture.”

In a controversial claim, he alleged that watching films of Shah Rukh Khan has contributed to a rise in so-called “love jihad” cases. He further accused the film industry of influencing and targeting Hindu girls.

Rane also took a swipe at political opponents, alleging that some people criticise leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while simultaneously benefiting from government schemes.

Referring to welfare initiatives, he claimed that a significant number of beneficiaries of the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme belong to the same groups that criticise the government, alleging that substantial financial assistance is being availed by them.

He also made remarks on population issues, drawing comparisons between communities, which further added to the controversy.

Rane urged the Hindu community to unite, stating that safeguarding Hindu culture is true patriotism.
