Navi Mumbai, Apr 19: A massive fire broke out at the JWR Logistics Park in Uran on Saturday afternoon, triggering panic in the surrounding areas as thick black smoke billowed into the sky. The facility is located close to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), officials said.
According to preliminary information, the blaze began around 3 pm and was accompanied by multiple loud explosions, raising concerns among workers and residents nearby. The fire reportedly originated in a section where hazardous chemicals were stored, complicating firefighting efforts.

Fire engines from several agencies, including the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), Panvel Municipal Corporation, and JNPA, were rushed to the site shortly after the alert was received. At least nine fire tenders have been deployed, and firefighting operations have been underway for over three hours to bring the situation under control and prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent warehouses.
Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported so far, though substantial property damage is feared.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have cordoned off the area to restrict access and ensure the safety of workers and nearby residents.
Chief Fire Officer of CIDCO, Vijay Rane, said the fire call was received around 2:45 pm. While parts of the blaze have been brought under control, he noted that the presence of hazardous materials is posing challenges for firefighters attempting to access certain sections.
He added that the exact cause of the fire will be determined following a detailed investigation after the completion of cooling operations.
Firefighting teams continue to remain on site, with authorities closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further escalation.
