Guyanese Teen Crowned as Miss India Worldwide 2012


Washington, Mar 9 (PTI): Alana Seebarran of Guyana has been crowned as the Miss India Worldwide 2012 in the 23rd edition of the pageant held in Suriname capital of Paramaribo.

Contestants from 35 different countries competed in this year's Miss India Worldwide, a pageant for the global Indian diaspora community.

19-year-old Seebarran, a student of business and marketing, was declared winner at the contest held on February 25.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's Anvita Sudarshan, 21, brought first runner-up and Australia's Oliva Rose, 18, second runner-up, according to a press release.

Alana was crowned by Ankita Ghazan of Australia, the outgoing Miss India Worldwide in presence of Bollywood actors Aftab Shivdasani and Aarti Chabria, a former Miss India Worldwide.
