Mumbai, Apr 21: In a significant administrative move, the Maharashtra government has ordered the transfer and posting of nine senior IPS officers across the state, aiming to strengthen law and order management and improve administrative efficiency.

The reshuffle was carried out under the Maharashtra Police Act based on recommendations from the Director General of Police, with a focus on key districts such as Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Gadchiroli.

Among the major changes, Nikhil Pingle has been appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Satara, replacing Tushar Doshi, who has been transferred to Sangli as SP. Yogesh Gupta has been promoted and posted as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Gadchiroli Range.

As part of the reshuffle, Sandip Ghuge has been moved from SP Sangli to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the State Intelligence Department in Mumbai. Nilotpal has been transferred from SP Gadchiroli to SP Kolhapur, while M Ramesh has been promoted from Additional SP Gadchiroli to SP Gadchiroli.

Maheshwar Reddy has been shifted from SP Jalgaon to SP, State CID Pune, and Shrikant Dhiware has been transferred from SP Dhule to SP Jalgaon. Rajkumar Shinde has been moved from DCP Pune to SP Washim.

The reshuffle covers several strategically important and sensitive regions, including Gadchiroli, which is known for security challenges, as well as key urban and semi-urban districts like Pune, Kolhapur and Sangli.

Officials said the transfers were carried out considering the prevailing law and order situation, administrative requirements, and the need for fresh leadership in critical positions.

The Director General of Police has been tasked with ensuring smooth implementation of the changes.

The move reflects the state government’s continued efforts to enhance policing efficiency and responsiveness by deploying experienced officers in crucial districts to ensure better governance and public safety.
